NCDMB, Grufix empower 50 Niger Delta youths with technical skills in Lagos

Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Grufix Global Services Limited, has commenced a five-day technical capacity-building programme for 50 youths drawn from communities across the Niger Delta region.

The training programme, which began on Monday, July 20, 2026, is being held in Badagry, Lagos State, and is scheduled to run until Friday, July 24, 2026.

The initiative is aimed at equipping young people from the Niger Delta with practical technical skills that can improve their employability, enhance their capacity for entrepreneurship and position them to take advantage of opportunities in the energy sector and other related industries.

A total of 50 selected beneficiaries are participating in the intensive programme, which focuses on technical knowledge and practical skills considered relevant to the demands of today’s workplace.

The initiative is also designed to bridge the gap between available manpower and the technical skills required by industries, particularly in sectors connected to oil and gas and other areas of the Nigerian economy.

Speaking on the programme, officials of Grufix Global Services Limited, the implementing partner, reaffirmed their commitment to providing participants with quality and practical training that meets relevant industry standards.

The officials said experienced facilitators had been deployed to ensure that participants receive a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practical experience throughout the five-day programme.

They emphasised the importance of exposing young people to relevant vocational and technical skills, noting that such training could provide beneficiaries with better opportunities to secure employment, establish businesses or provide technical services within their communities.

The participants were also encouraged to demonstrate seriousness, commitment and discipline throughout the duration of the training, as the knowledge and skills acquired could serve as a foundation for their future careers and entrepreneurial activities.

The organisers urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity by actively participating in the practical sessions, asking questions and developing the competence required to apply their newly acquired skills beyond the training programme.

The collaboration between the NCDMB and Grufix Global Services Limited is part of broader efforts to promote youth empowerment, address unemployment and strengthen local capacity in line with the objectives of the Nigerian Content Development Act.

The programme is expected to contribute to the development of a skilled workforce capable of participating more effectively in the Nigerian oil and gas industry and other technical sectors of the economy.

For the Niger Delta region, where many young people continue to seek sustainable employment and economic opportunities, initiatives of this nature are expected to play a role in building human capital and promoting inclusive economic participation.

By providing participants with practical skills, the organisers hope to enhance their readiness for employment and vocational opportunities while encouraging self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

The five-day programme is expected to end on Friday, July 24, 2026, with a closing ceremony and the presentation of certificates to participants who successfully complete the training.

The organisers expressed optimism that the beneficiaries would put the knowledge and technical skills gained during the programme to productive use and become contributors to the development of their communities and the wider Nigerian economy.
