Supervisory Councillor for Budget, Planning and Statistics in Badagry Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Metose Isaiah Dansu, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is well-positioned to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as the administration’s ongoing infrastructure development, economic reforms and growing nationwide support.

Dansu, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also described the emergence of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as the party’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates as “a dream come true” for many Lagosians.

Speaking during an interview with journalists in Lagos, the APC chieftain said the Hamzat-Sonayon-James ticket represents continuity, competence and a fresh vision capable of consolidating the achievements of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

According to him, President Tinubu’s administration has undertaken major reforms that have strengthened the nation’s economy despite prevailing challenges.

He listed the clearance of billions of dollars in foreign exchange liabilities, improvements in Nigeria’s external reserves, debt reduction initiatives, removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange market reforms and increased foreign investment commitments as some of the administration’s notable achievements.

Dansu further noted that the Federal Government has embarked on extensive road construction across the country, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway and the rehabilitation of strategic highways in the North-East.

He also praised the Federal Government for promoting local government autonomy, establishing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), sustaining industrial peace in public universities, rehabilitating the Port Harcourt Refinery, expanding affordable housing programmes and increasing funding for security agencies.

“I strongly believe President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure another mandate in 2027. The support he enjoys across the country continues to grow, while the projects and reforms being implemented have further strengthened public confidence,” he said.

On the Lagos governorship race, Dansu described Dr. Hamzat as an experienced administrator whose years of service as Deputy Governor have adequately prepared him for the state’s top job.
He said Hamzat’s loyalty, competence, administrative experience and commitment to progressive governance distinguished him as the right candidate to succeed Governor Sanwo-Olu.

He equally commended Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, describing her as a hardworking and experienced public servant whose emergence as deputy governorship candidate would further strengthen the APC ticket.

“Dr. Hamzat and Princess Damilola Sonayon-James represent a formidable team that will consolidate the achievements of the current administration while introducing fresh ideas that will move Lagos to greater heights,” Dansu stated.

Speaking on security, the Badagry politician urged the incoming Lagos administration to leverage the State Police framework by ensuring that qualified indigenes from various local government areas are recruited into the proposed state police structure.

According to him, recruiting residents who understand the local terrain and communities would significantly improve intelligence gathering, crime prevention and community policing.

He also advocated increased funding, improved equipment, enhanced training and greater operational support for the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps and local vigilante groups.

Dansu further called for the recognition and reward of outstanding police officers to improve morale, professionalism and dedication within the security services.
On his relationship with the deputy governorship candidate, he described Princess Sonayon-James as a committed daughter of Badagry who has consistently demonstrated dedication to public service.

He recalled her performance during her tenure as Supervisor for Agriculture, saying she remained focused on grassroots development and had maintained a cordial relationship with the people.

Dansu also paid glowing tribute to APC leaders who, according to him, have shaped his political career.

He particularly acknowledged Prince Chief Rabiu Adio Oluwa, a member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), for his mentorship, encouragement and leadership over the years.

He equally appreciated Hon. Dr. Hontonyon Joseph Bamgbose, FMHR, Apex Leader of APC in Badagry West LCDA, describing him as a committed grassroots politician whose mentorship and unwavering support have positively influenced many young political leaders.

He also thanked Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, as well as Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, for their encouragement and support.

Dansu further expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Hamzat and Princess Sonayon-James for what he described as their commitment to the continued progress of Lagos State and Nigeria.

The APC stalwart also disclosed that he was recently confirmed as the Coordinator of Supervisory Councillors for the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State, while also serving as Vice Chairman (Lagos West) of the Lagos State Supervisory Councillors’ Forum for Budget, Planning and Statistics.

He described the appointment as an opportunity to contribute more effectively to grassroots governance and development.

As the 2027 general elections approach, Dansu appealed to Nigerians to remain peaceful, united and committed to democratic values.

He urged eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process and exercise their civic responsibility by voting peacefully for candidates of their choice in accordance with the law.
