Tinubu condoles with Attahiru Jega over wife’s passing

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to Professor Attahiru Jega, Special Adviser on Livestock Development, following the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.

The President’s message was conveyed on Sunday through Vice President Kashim Shettima, who attended the Janazah prayer held for the deceased at the National Mosque in Abuja.

In his condolence message, President Tinubu described the late Hajiya Hadiza Jega as a woman of uncommon grace and strong character, noting that she served as a steadfast pillar of support to her husband throughout his years of public service.

He particularly acknowledged her role during Professor Jega’s tenure as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where she stood firmly by him as he navigated the challenges of national duty.

The President also commended her contributions to education and community development, describing her life as one marked by service, compassion, and dedication to societal growth.

“Dear Professor Jega, it is with a heavy heart that I receive the news of the passing of your beloved wife of over 40 years. Hajiya was an exceptional woman. I mourn this painful loss with you and your family and pray that God Almighty grant her Aljannatul Firdaus. I stand with you and your family at this difficult time,” the President stated.

Vice President Shettima, while representing the President at the funeral prayers, personally conveyed the administration’s sympathies to Professor Jega and members of his family, urging them to find strength and comfort in the legacy of the deceased.

The passing of Hajiya Hadiza Jega has drawn sympathy from government officials, associates, and members of the public, many of whom have described her as a devoted wife, mother, and community figure whose life touched many.

President Tinubu also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and for divine comfort for the bereaved family as they navigate this period of grief.
