President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Dr. Farouk Rabi’u Mudi, has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, as well as to the government and people of Nigeria, following his passing.

In a solemn message issued on behalf of the entire AFAN leadership and its members nationwide, Dr. Mudi described the late President Buhari as a leader whose legacy left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political history and the agricultural sector in particular.

According to him, President Buhari’s administration was notable for key policy interventions aimed at reviving local food production and advancing Nigeria’s quest for self-sufficiency in agriculture.

“On behalf of all Nigerian farmers under the umbrella of AFAN, we deeply mourn the loss of a statesman whose vision and dedication helped shape the trajectory of our nation’s agricultural development.

His unwavering commitment to economic diversification, with agriculture at its core, remains a remarkable part of his legacy that will be remembered for generations,” Dr. Mudi stated.

Dr. Mudi further highlighted that during Buhari’s tenure, several programs and initiatives were launched to empower smallholder farmers, increase local production of rice and other staple crops, and stimulate investments across various agricultural value chains.

These efforts, he noted, helped reposition agriculture as a fundamental pillar of Nigeria’s economic resilience.

He prayed that Almighty Allah grant the late former President eternal rest and bring comfort to his family, loved ones, and the millions of Nigerians who mourn his passing.

“As farmers and as Nigerians, we stand in solidarity with the family of the late President Buhari and the entire nation during this period of mourning,” the condolence message concluded.
