Methodist Church Prelate laments over insecurity, charge Nigerians to renew covenant with God

Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, has expressed concern over insecurity in the country, and urged Nigerians to renew their covenant with God for a new beginning.

Speaking in his 2022 Christmas Message tagged, ‘God’s call for repentance ‘, Ali-Aba  noted  that  in  the bible , Luke 1-2, Jesus was born in tumultuous times as Nigeria are currently experiencing.

“Some of the events  are  also reminds me of the twin attacks which occurred simultaneously at the Kagoro area of Southern Kaduna and Enugu respectively late Sunday night on December 18, 2022. It was a massacre resulting in loss of lives and the razing of homes of many Christians in these two places by terrorists believed to be Fulani herdsmen.

“This is pathetic. Despite this unfortunate event. God’s love still manifesting in me and you, is what enables us to witness Christmas. Nigerians should renew our faithfulness and covenant with God. Because people of God do cheat and do not live according to God’s teachings.

“God came to purify his people, he also promised to send his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to proclaim God’s covenant and message of redemption –Isaiah 7-9 and 52:7. As one of you, I say with God’s assurance that if it had not been for the Lord’s mercies, many of us would have been consumed by the effects of the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia (e.g. Shortage of flour and other grains which would lead to hunger) or insecurity in the land or attacks of the evil one in the world.

“As we continue to give thanks to God for grace granted us, I need to remind you of God’s promise manifested in Jesus Christ who is the reason for the season. This very moment, Jesus Christ is God’s good tidings of salvation and healing to the world. This Yuletide, we are enjoined to change from our bad way of God. By following God’s way in John 14:6, we are saying to the world, we have God’s Message living in us and with us –John 3:16.

“Let us not target that despite the challenges of 2022, the Lord remains faithful in protecting God’s people in times of trouble and peace. In 2023, God will take care of his own. people of Nigeria and the world, let us celebrate God’s faithfulness this Christmas and throughout the new year. I pray that God will destroy the wicked and never allow them invade our homes and land again in 2023 in Jesus name,” he assured.

“The events of Christ birth herald God’s good tidings of salvation, healing and a call for personal repentance. Prior to the advent of Jesus Christ almost 2,000 year ago, the world witnessed chaos, spiritual and economic crisis and several other problems prompting God’s messengers calling his people to renew their covenants with our maker”, the Prelate prayed.
