Nigerian Afropop artist, Aaron Anthony, known as YolyBoy, has set social media buzzing after revealing that he rejected a $5,000 performance offer in Ethiopia just to honour Davido (OBO) and be part of the ongoing 5ive Alive Tour, which is coming to his hometown, Adamawa, on October 29.

YolyBoy made this revelation during an interview on Nas FM 89.9, where he discussed Davido’s 5ive Alive Tour in Nigeria and the energy surrounding OBO’s nationwide performances.

The video of the interview has since surfaced online, gaining thousands of views and reactions from fans who praised YolyBoy for his loyalty and humility.

“I had a $5,000 show deal in Ethiopia, but I cancelled it. Davido’s 5ive Alive Tour is history in motion, and he’s coming to my home state — I have to be there. Money can wait, history can’t,”— YolyBoy, speaking on Nas FM 89.9.

The 5ive Alive Tour is Davido’s biggest tour of the year, a celebration of his 15-year journey as one of Africa’s most influential artists.

The tour began in Akwa Ibom on October 26, and continues with stops in Adamawa (October 29), Ibadan (November 9), Enugu (December 1), and the grand finale in Lagos on December 25.

The series of shows have drawn massive crowds, with fans describing Davido’s Five Alive Tour as a movement that unites music lovers across Nigeria.

Many observers say the tour has reaffirmed OBO’s status as the most loved and accessible superstar in
Afrobeats — a fact YolyBoy passionately echoed in his interview.

YolyBoy’s bold move has been met with admiration online, with fans calling it a rare show of loyalty in today’s competitive music industry.

Some praised him for putting respect and legacy above money, while others tagged Davido, asking him to “acknowledge the northern king’s love.”

“This is real love, not trend-chasing. YolyBoy is showing what true fan energy looks like,” one user commented under the viral clip on X (formerly Twitter).

The loyalty gesture has also sparked conversations about how Davido’s impact continues to inspire young artists across regions — especially in Northern Nigeria, where YolyBoy is quickly becoming a leading voice of the new Afropop wave.

Davido (OBO) continues to dominate the global Afrobeats scene with his consistency, humility, and connection with fans

His 5ive Alive Tour has been described as a nationwide thank-you movement to celebrate his fans and mark his dominance as Africa’s 001.

YolyBoy’s heartfelt decision to honour him, rather than chase international money, is being seen as a symbolic act of respect — one that could become one of the most talked-about Afrobeats moments from the North this year.
