President of the Methodist Church Nigeria West Zone Men’s Fellowship, Sir Dr. Dele Taiwo, KJW, has congratulated Olamide Mojigbotoluwa Adekunle on her historic elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), describing her achievement as an inspiration to young women and aspiring legal practitioners.

Adekunle was among 68 legal practitioners sworn in as Senior Advocates of Nigeria on October 12, 2026, by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun. Only four women were among the newly elevated advocates.

Her achievement comes 45 years after Chief Folake Solanke became Nigeria’s first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1981, marking another milestone in women’s advancement within the country’s legal profession.

Adekunle is an alumna of Obafemi Awolowo University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree. She also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in International Trade Law from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom.

She is currently a partner at Afe Babalola & Co., with more than 15 years of legal practice spanning commercial litigation, arbitration and election petitions.

Her professional engagements have included appearances before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, demonstrating her experience in handling complex legal matters.

Congratulating Adekunle, Taiwo said her accomplishment demonstrated the importance of recognising professional excellence, nurturing talent and creating opportunities for individuals to attain the highest levels of achievement in their chosen careers.

He noted that her elevation was particularly encouraging to young women pursuing careers in law, adding that her success should inspire more women to aspire to leadership positions and distinguished professional recognition.

Taiwo also observed that the small number of women among the newly elevated SANs should encourage the legal profession to examine ways of improving access to the opportunities and professional experiences that prepare lawyers for the prestigious rank.

He expressed confidence that Adekunle would continue to make meaningful contributions to the development of Nigeria’s legal profession and serve as a source of inspiration to the younger generation.

Adekunle’s elevation represents a significant personal and professional milestone and highlights the importance of excellence, dedication and equal opportunities in the pursuit of professional advancement.
