World Bank-Sponsored IDEAS Project begins six-month Network System Installation training in Lagos

Beneficiaries selected under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project have commenced a six-month intensive training programme in Network System Installation aimed at equipping participants with practical digital and technical skills for the modern workplace.

Speaking on the programme, the Chief Executive Officer, Training Provider and Project Manager, Silicon Valley Digital Consulting Limited, Dr. Bimbola Ekunnusi, explained that the programme, sponsored by the World Bank Group in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), officially began on Monday, June 15.

He disclosed that the training, which falls under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative of the IDEAS Project, will run every Monday to Wednesday over the next six months, ending on December 15, 2026.

He further said that the training coordinators and participants were selected after a screening process and will receive hands-on instruction in Network System Installation, one of the key skills identified under the digital sector component of the project.

Ekunnusi emphasized that attendance would be strictly monitored throughout the programme, with beneficiaries expected to maintain at least 65 per cent monthly attendance to remain eligible for participation and programme benefits.

“Participants are also required to actively engage in classroom discussions and practical sessions while adhering to the rules and regulations of the training institution.

“The initiative represents a significant investment in human capital development and digital capacity building,” he assured.

He further explained that while the IDEAS Project would cover tuition costs and provide transportation stipends for beneficiaries, participants must demonstrate commitment and dedication throughout the duration of the training.

Ekunnusi congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to take full advantage of the opportunity to acquire valuable technical skills that could improve their career prospects and contribute to national development.

“The IDEAS Project is a Federal Government-backed initiative supported by the World Bank Group to strengthen Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training system by providing market-relevant skills that address workforce demands and promote sustainable economic growth,” he said.

Some of the participants believe that programmes such as the Network System Installation training will play a crucial role in bridging the digital skills gap, reducing unemployment, and preparing young Nigerians for opportunities within the technology sector.

As the six-month programme gets underway, participants have expressed optimism that the training will equip them with practical knowledge and certifications needed to compete effectively in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

In a notification issued to successful candidates, participants were informed that the programme is designed to provide relevant competencies and industry-ready skills capable of enhancing employability and entrepreneurship opportunities in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
