2027: OmoBarca joins NDC, strengthens party’s Lagos base

Hon. Francis Bartholomew Chima, popularly known as OmoBarca, has formally joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in a move seen as a significant boost to the party’s growing political base ahead of the 2027 general elections.

OmoBarca, a grassroots politician and philanthropist from Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in Lagos State, was officially received into the party by its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, during a ceremony held in Abuja.

The event drew party stakeholders, supporters, and political allies, underscoring the NDC’s increasing appeal among emerging political figures across the country.

Speaking at the reception, Dickson described OmoBarca as a dynamic, people-oriented leader whose entry aligns with the party’s vision of building an inclusive, service-driven political movement rooted in grassroots development.

“OmoBarca represents the kind of leadership we are encouraging—one that is deeply connected to the people, understands their needs, and is committed to delivering results,” Dickson said.

“The NDC remains open to individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to national development, and we are confident that he will strengthen our structures, particularly in Lagos State.”

OmoBarca’s defection comes amid ongoing political realignments as politicians reposition ahead of the next electoral cycle. He also highlighted his grassroots initiative, the Team Legit Movement, which promotes unity, empowerment, and development within Ajeromi-Ifelodun, popularly known as Ajegunle.
