YALI Network Lagos empowers students in Surulere through Adopt-A-School Initiative

YALI Network Lagos has successfully implemented its Adopt-A-School Project (Eko Division) at Noble Vine College, Aguda, Surulere, in a renewed effort to empower secondary school students with essential life skills, leadership values, and career development guidance.

The outreach programme, led by Team Lead Leader Angel Ebiere Ingbaifegha, brought together members of the network to engage students through interactive and capacity-building sessions focused on personal development, career planning, and leadership training.

In the personal development segment, Leader Blessing Onuawuchi emphasized the importance of discipline, strong character formation, goal setting, mentorship, and consistent reading habits.

She also encouraged students to make responsible and productive use of technology to support their academic growth and future ambitions.

During the career development session, Leader Alamu Azeez encouraged students to develop self-awareness by identifying their strengths and interests early in life.

He further highlighted the importance of financial literacy, intentional goal setting, and seeking proper guidance when making career choices, stressing that clarity of purpose is key to long-term success.

The leadership session, facilitated by Leader Peter Aideloje, focused on integrity, responsibility, and influence. He urged the students to understand leadership as a value-driven responsibility that requires positive impact, accountability, and service to others.

The programme also featured interactive engagements where students participated actively, sharing their aspirations and responding to guided questions. Pre- and post-event interviews were conducted to assess expectations and capture learning outcomes, reflecting the effectiveness of the engagement.

At the conclusion of the outreach, the school principal expressed appreciation to YALI Network Lagos for the impactful initiative and welcomed the possibility of future collaborations aimed at sustaining student development programmes within the school.

As part of its support to the school community, the team donated cartons of biscuits to students and presented YALI-branded gifts to the school management as a token of partnership and encouragement.

Kareem, and Olufemi Michael Adewunmi.

The Adopt-A-School Project remains a key component of the YALI Network Lagos’ commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement, to nurture a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders across Lagos State.
