AIG Margaret Ochalla leads humanitarian outreach to FMC Yaba, Island Maternity Hospital

In a demonstration of compassion and community-oriented policing, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, AIG Margaret Ochalla, on Friday, led members of her management team on a humanitarian outreach to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yaba, and Island Maternity Hospital, Lagos.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, AIG, FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, ASP Mayegun Aminat, the outreach was aimed at identifying with patients—particularly indigent patients—and providing support to ease the financial and emotional burden associated with hospitalization.

During the visits, the AIG and her team donated essential items to patients and also settled outstanding medical bills for those experiencing financial hardship, bringing relief and renewed hope to many families.

Speaking during the outreach, AIG Ochalla emphasized that the role of the Nigeria Police Force extends beyond investigation, crime prevention, and law enforcement.

According to her, policing is also about humanity, compassion, and selfless service to the people.

“The Police Force must continually seek ways to touch lives positively and make life more comfortable for the citizens we are sworn to protect,” she stated.

The AIG noted that the humanitarian gesture aligns with the mission and vision of the Inspector-General of Police, which prioritize professionalism, empathy, community engagement, and the strengthening of public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

Management and staff of the Federal Medical Centre, Yaba, and Island Maternity Hospital expressed deep appreciation for the kind gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.

They commended the FCID Annex, Lagos, for demonstrating that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to serving society beyond its statutory responsibilities.

The humanitarian outreach further underscores the resolve of the FCID Annex, Lagos, to support initiatives that foster public trust, enhance cooperation between the Police and the public, and contribute to the building of a safer, more compassionate society.
