In a poignant tribute to his late predecessor, President Bola Tinubu has announced the renaming of the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University.

According to the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the announcement was made during a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) dedicated to paying tribute to the late former President.

The renaming is seen as a testament to Buhari’s enduring legacy and contributions to Nigeria’s development.

As a symbol of respect and admiration, the university’s new name aims to honor the late President’s commitment to education and national progress.

The University of Maiduguri, located in Borno State, has a rich history dating back to 1975.

The institution has played a significant role in shaping the academic and intellectual landscape of Nigeria’s northeastern region.

President Tinubu’s decision to rename the university after Buhari underscores the importance of recognizing and celebrating the achievements of Nigeria’s leaders.

The move is likely to have a lasting impact on the university’s identity and reputation, serving as a reminder of the values and ideals that Buhari embodied during his tenure as President.
