Vice-Chancellor of Wesley University Ondo, Rt. Rev. Prof. Obeka Samuel Sunday has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to education and innovative leadership.

The Champion Newspapers’ 2024 Most Impactful and Innovative Academic Leader of the Year Award is a testament to his dedication and commitment to excellence.

Under Rt. Rev. Prof. Obeka Samuel’s leadership, Wesley University Ondo has undergone significant transformations.

The university has expanded its academic offerings, introducing 23 new programs and establishing new colleges, including Health Science, Education, Law, and School of Postgraduate Studies. This growth has positioned the university for global recognition and acclaim.

According to the award letter signed by Group Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Champion Newspapers Limited, Dr. Mrs. Nwadiuto Iheakanwa, Rt. Rev. Prof. Obeka Samuel’s passion for learning and dedication to excellence align with the core values of Wesley University Ondo.

“His leadership has been marked by unwavering integrity, dedication to education, and a commitment to transforming the university into one of the best in the country.

“This award which is a product of the painstaking selection of our Board of Editors is our modest way of recognizing leaders in both public and private sectors of the economy who have paid
greater sacrifice in ensuring that the objectives and ideals of Nigeria’s nationhood are sustained as well as promoting good corporate governance.

“On all scores, our findings, largely corroborated by that of our credible independent assessors, confirm that since you were appointed Vice Chancellor in 2021, you have consistently displayed unwavering integrity and dedication to education, as well as a committed leadership,” she stated.

The letter further stated that Champion Newspapers’ Annual Awards will honor Rt. Rev. Prof. Obeka Samuel’s achievements on June 7, 2025, at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

This recognition is a celebration of his outstanding contributions to education and his commitment to serving the community.
