Ilobu’s agony: A call to action for President to intervene in ending violence

People of Ilobu, a town in Osun State, are crying out for help as they face unending violence from neighboring communities.

The latest attack, which occurred in the last 72 hours, has left the town in ruins.

This is the eighth time the town has been attacked in just 18 months under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

Ilobu is a town with a rich history and has produced notable individuals, including the late Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Lagbaja, and the immediate past Clerk of the National Assembly, Amos Ojo.

Despite its contributions to the nation, the town has been left to suffer at the hands of its neighbors.

The attacks are reportedly fueled by land disputes, which have been ongoing since the 1970s.

Despite winning all court cases up to the Appeal Court, Ilobu remains under threat.

The state government’s response to the crisis has been inadequate, with Governor Adeleke setting up a 100-member committee to address the issue.

However, this move has been criticized as ineffective.

Furthermore, evidence of bribery against members of the committee has been presented to the governor, but he has only removed two members.

This has led to a loss of trust in Governor Adeleke’s ability to address the matter.

The people of Ilobu are calling on the President to intervene and bring an end to the violence.
