What is the primary aim of your group?

Our group, ANCEDRAM, plays a multifaceted role in promoting and regulating Christian drama and filmmaking in Nigeria. It promotes Christian drama evangelism locally and beyond, while regulating the industry to maintain standards and excellence. We offer film technical training, equipping members with the necessary skills to excel in their craft. This includes workshops, seminars, and online training sessions.

We also facilitate networking opportunities among drama ministers, filmmakers, and industry professionals, fostering collaboration and growth within the community. Helps market and distribute its members’ films across Nigeria and internationally, expanding their reach and audience. We provide a platform for members to connect, learn from each other, and receive guidance from experienced professionals in the industry.

How does the drama ministry support the overall mission work?

Drama ministry communicates the gospel in a creative and relatable way, breaking down barriers that traditional preaching might not overcome. It supports mission work by reaching people with the message of Christ through storytelling, skits, and performances that touch both the heart and the mind.

In what ways does the drama ministry help in evangelism or discipleship?

Through gospel-centered dramas that bring biblical truths to life and reach unbelievers in a simple, impactful way.

How do you train members to balance performance with spiritual depth?

We emphasize spiritual growth first, ensuring members are grounded in the word of God and prayer. During training, we teach them that drama is a ministry, not just performance. Rehearsals often begin with devotionals and prayers, reminding members that the message is more important than the acting skill alone. We usually set out time for Bible study.

How do you choose themes for drama presentations?

Themes are prayerfully chosen based on the leading of the Holy Spirit, the church’s focus, and the needs of the congregation or community. Sometimes themes come from current societal challenges, special events, or the church’s yearly theme.

What role do youths play in the drama ministry?

Youths bring energy, creativity, and innovation to drama ministry. They are often the actors, scriptwriters, technical crew, and sometimes directors. Their involvement not only empowers them to use their gifts for God but also keeps the ministry vibrant and relevant.

How do you handle training, mentoring, and capacity building for drama ministers?

We organize workshops, retreats, and regular rehearsals that focus on both spiritual and technical development. Experienced drama ministers mentor younger ones, passing down skills in acting, scriptwriting, and directing, while also nurturing them spiritually

Where do you draw inspiration for scripts and drama concepts?

Inspiration often comes from the Bible, real-life situations, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes, current social issues also spark concepts that can be addressed through drama. Sometimes, inspiration could be drawn from past events/happenings.

Do you write original scripts or adapt existing ones?

We do both. Original scripts, with the help of the Holy Spirit, allow us to address specific themes relevant to our audience, while existing scripts (with permission) can be adapted to suit particular contexts. Both approaches help maintain freshness and variety.

How do you address social or moral issues through drama in church?

By presenting relatable stories that highlight real-life challenges such as immorality, corruption, addiction, or family issues, and offering biblical solutions. The aim is to correct, encourage, and guide believers to live righteously.

What are the biggest challenges the drama ministry faces generally?

Limited funding and resources, lack of adequate training for members, and balancing spiritual depth with performance quality.

Also, misconceptions that drama is mere entertainment. Time commitment from members who have other obligations.

How do you plan to incorporate modern media (e.g., film, social media, YouTube) into the ministry?

We plan to record performances, create short films, and share them on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. This allows the message to reach a wider audience beyond the church walls, especially youths who are active online.

How has your personal faith journey influenced your work in the drama ministry?

My faith journey has deepened my conviction that drama is not entertainment but ministry. Experiencing God personally helps me lead with humility, compassion, and a desire to see lives transformed. It shapes the way I write, direct, and minister through drama.
