At the most recent EXCO meeting of the Akwa Ibom State Government, the Governor’s economic adviser delivered a one-year analytical report on the performance of Governor Umo Bassey Eno.

The report’s index analysis clearly demonstrates that Governor Pastor Umo Eno’s administration is centered around the people, focusing on the development of the masses and the poorest members of society, alongside advancing infrastructural development.

Governor Umo Bassey Eno has overseen the transformation of people’s lives through various initiatives in agriculture, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship development, road infrastructure, welfare programmes for the poor, and tourism.

Agriculture

Governor Umo Eno knows that agriculture is indispensable in combating food scarcity by providing food, nutrition, economic stability, environmental sustainability, and global food security.

So Investing in sustainable agriculture and supporting smallholder farmers are crucial steps towards ensuring a stable food supply for current and future generations in Akwa Ibom State

In the agricultural sector, Governor Umo Bassey Eno has directly impacted the lives of two thousand, nine hundred, and eighty-two individuals through his agricultural programmes .

One of his key projects is the Ibom Model Farm in Ikot Edibon, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, covering 50,000 hectares and providing employment to over 100,000 people.

This project is a replica of the famous Songhai Farm Technology in Porto-Novo, Benin Republic, which combines crop cultivation, livestock farming, aquaculture, and agricultural processing.

The Ibom model farm will have different sectors like such as tomatoes, cucumber, yam, cabbage, carrot, pawpaw, pineapple, orange, lettuce, pepper, cassava, horticulture, juice processing, bakery, brooding, broiler pen, piggery pen complex, moringa, concrete fishpond, feed mill, abattoir, store, restaurant, water reservoir, two-bedroom bungalow, residence, classroom, male dormitory, female dormitory, canteen, car park, hotel, conference hall, zoo, solar panel, and administrative block.

Numerous farmers in Akwa Ibom State have been provided with mechanized equipment by the State Government to enhance their farming operations. Moreso, through the FADAMA Micro-Finance Bank, hundreds of cooperative and non-cooperative farmers have received interest-free loans to establish new agricultural ventures.

In general, the Akwa Ibom State Government has been promoting a return to farming for all Akwa Ibom people.

In order to inspire large numbers of people to go back to farming, the State Government has provided millions of seedlings, cassava stems, and fertilizers to small-scale farmers in rural areas to assist them in shifting to commercial agriculture.

Moreover, teachers in public schools have been encouraged to reintroduce school farming in their institutions. They are also educating both pupils and students on farming techniques.

As a result, a total of one hundred public secondary schools and thirty public primary schools have benefited from agricultural resources and support.

Welfare for elderly 

In the ARISE AGENDA, the elderly have been given a special attention, with the government committing to providing them with welfare support periodically.

Governor Umo Eno is constructing an Elderly Village that upon completion, will feature hostels, a bar, restaurant, games village, and a hospital to offer them healthcare services.

Over the past one year of Governor Umo Eno’s administration, six hundred elders have benefited from the state government’s financial and medical assistance.

Humanitarian (Charity)

Governor Umo Eno has prioritized assisting the poorest members of society, aiming directly to impact their lives and lift them out of poverty.

36 two bedroom bungalows has been constructed for the poorest across the State, this home is well furnished, with solar energy to power both the house and the potable water.

Each beneficiaries get five hundred thousand to commence a business venture that will make them to be self-employed.

The State Government, operating via a bulk purchasing agency, has supplied food to the underprivileged individuals residing in every village in Akwa Ibom State.

This agency, working with its vendors, distributes garri, rice, and beans twice a month to alleviate the hardships faced by the most impoverished residents. To date, this initiative has benefited over five hundred thousand individuals.

So far, two thousand, two hundred and twelve individuals previously classified as multidimensionally poor have been uplifted through various government programs.

Job creation 

Creation of the employment is one of the cardinal feature of the ARISE AGENDA, Governor Umo Bassey Eno have provided six thousand, four hundred persons with jobs and people who were engaged are Skilled and unskilled labour

More than one hundred thousand indirect jobs have been generated through numerous contracts awarded by the State Government to contracting firms, which in turn have hired citizens to join their workforce.

Road infrastructure 

Governor Umo Bassey Eno recognizes the critical importance of a well-developed road infrastructure for facilitating the smooth transportation of individuals, goods, and services.

He is aware that Improving the road network in Akwa Ibom State will not only increases accessibility, decreases travel durations, and enhances safety for motorists but also serves as a vital support for various industries like logistics, tourism, markets, and agriculture..

His exceptional performance in this area is evident in the positive feedback from his economic adviser .

In roads infrastructure two hundred and twenty-nine,four hundred and eleven kilometers of roads, with fourteen bridges and three underground discharge drainage have been constructed.

Thirty-seven kilometers of feeder roads have been constructed in rural communities across the state.

Healthcare

Health is wealth” is a popular saying that emphasizes the importance of good health as the most valuable asset a person can possess.

This concept has made Pastor Umo Eno to placed premium on healthcare delivery to the people of Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor says that without good health, all the material wealth in the world is of little value. Good health enables individuals to live a fulfilling and productive life, pursue their goals and dreams, and enjoy their relationships and experiences to the fullest.

So Pastor Umo Eno Investing in the people’s health through offering of Medicare by building primary healthcare centers across all the local Government Areas , established more general Hospitals and provide free medical outreaches in all the nine federal Constituencies are lovely gestures to the people

The Governor put in place all these initiatives because he knows that healthcare measures can lead to a higher quality of life, increased longevity, and a greater capacity to enjoy life’s blessings and have a good working members of the society that will become taxpayers.

In essence, good health is the foundation upon which all other aspects of a fulfilling life are built, making it truly invaluable and essential for overall well-being and success is key to Pastor Umo Eno’s administration.

Sixteen thousand, five hundred and twenty-two patients have received the benefits of these diverse free medical services.

Certain medical treatments for these individuals were conducted overseas due to the critical nature of many illnesses, requiring specialized healthcare machinery that is inaccessible in Nigeria.

Education advancement 

Governor Umo Eno recognized education as the key to unlocking a brighter future for individuals and societies alike.

That by providing knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities, that citizens will be empowered to realize their potential, pursue their aspirations, and contribute meaningfully to the State

The Governor also knows that. Education will open doors to opportunities, enhance personal growth, and foster innovation and progress in various fields.

In education advancement, the State Government has done well, the administration of Pastor Umo is building model schools that will make public schools very attractive and over 48,797 students have benefited from the payment of 2023/24 SSCE fees, while over five thousand students in the Universities has benefitted from bursary.

Furthermore, that State Government has given special scholarship to some students who doing special courses, over two hundred students are abroad to study specialized aviation courses, raging from pilot, Aeronautic Engineers and specialities in aviation industries.

Entrepreneurship development 

Building a vibrant entrepreneurship community is crucial for fostering economic growth, innovation, job creation, and overall prosperity in an economy.

Governor Umo Eno knows that Startups and small businesses are significant contributors to job creation.

By supporting and nurturing entrepreneurs, an economy can generate employment opportunities, reduce unemployment rates, and drive economic development.

He is aware that entrepreneurship fuels economic growth by spurring investment, increasing productivity, and expanding market opportunities. .

The Governor knows that a vibrant entrepreneurship community attracts capital, talent, and resources, leading to a more dynamic and resilient economy.

Pastor Umo Eno is building a vibrant entrepreneurship community in the State to drive economic prosperity, promoting innovation, and creating a sustainable and inclusive economy.

So his supports to enterprise are to nurture entrepreneurs, to unlock the full potential of the State economies and pave the way for a brighter future. Through internal generated revenue.

The government has allocated five hundred thousand Naira each to eight hundred individuals to kickstart businesses, while another one thousand, two hundred people have received two hundred and fifty thousand Naira to start trading.

And traders across the state have been granted a 1.5 billion Naira interest-free loan to help expand their businesses.

So far, 4,603 people have benefited from the different entrepreneurship schemes of the state government.

Welfare of retiree

Governor Um Eno is aware that paying entitlements to retired civil servants is essential not only to honour their service and maintain trust but also to ensure their financial security, support employee retention, boost morale, fulfill legal obligations, and stimulate the economy.

So as a responsive and a responsible Government, the administration of Governor Umo Eno has paid 3,583 retirees (from the state and Local Government Services) their retirement benefits to the tune of N18.234 billion, as at May 2024.

Though additional 1.3billion has been released in June for the continuous payment of retirees entitlements.
