Hospitalized youth battling Anemia, heart condition solicits ₦5m for medical treatment

A 24-year-old Nigerian, Thompson Ebenezer Ndukwe, has made an emotional appeal to the public for financial and moral support as he battles a life-threatening combination of severe anemia and a weak heart condition, while seeking to raise ₦5 million to cover urgent medical expenses.

Thompson, a devoted member of Methodist Church Nigeria said the past one year has been marked by severe pain, trauma, and repeated medical emergencies that have drastically affected his health and daily life.

According to him, his health crisis began around May last year while he was living in Lagos.

As his condition worsened, he had to relocate to the eastern part of Nigeria for treatment.

After months of medical care, he experienced temporary recovery and expressed gratitude for the improvement.

However, in January, his condition relapsed severely.

He reportedly slumped and was rushed to the hospital, where he has remained hospitalized for over two weeks.

Medical diagnosis confirmed severe anemia alongside a weak heart condition affecting his breathing, strength, and overall body function. Doctors explained that each crisis significantly lowers his blood level, leaving him extremely weak and pale.

As part of emergency stabilization, he was placed on seven pints of blood transfusion ahead of full treatment.

Each pint costs ₦28,000. So far, he has been able to receive three pints, leaving four more pending due to financial limitations.

In addition to the transfusion, the cost of drugs, intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and other medical care continues to rise daily.

According to him, these costs do not yet include total hospital bills and follow-up treatment requirements.

Due to the overwhelming financial burden, Thompson is now soliciting ₦5 million from the public to cover blood transfusion, medications, hospital bills, and ongoing treatment needed for survival.

“I have exhausted all hope and currently I don’t know how to go about it. I’m reaching out to everyone to please support me. Your assistance will go a long way in helping me survive through this. I really want to live,” he said.

Religious leaders, community members, and well-meaning Nigerians are being urged to support the young man through financial donations, blood support, and prayers as he continues his fight for survival.
